There are many different writing
styles, each one of them is different and shows you something about the author.
The book They Say I Say says that you
always need to give an opposing opinion when you write. I don’t think this is necessarily
always true. I believe that there are times when you don’t need to give the
other side of an argument. Some examples of these cases are, if you don’t have
a good way to disprove the opposing argument, if it would do nothing but
confuse your reader, or if it is an essay that is trying to make a quick point.
However I do agree that there are many cases where showing both sides of an
argument would help.
